Royal Curragh Golf Club aiming for All-Ireland pennant
Leinster Central champions Royal Curragh Golf Club are competing in the AIG Men’s Junior Cup quarter-final at Millicent Golf Club, Naas on Thursday
Royal Curragh can lay claim to being Ireland’s oldest Golf Club but All-Ireland titles during their 174 year history have been few and far between.
They will be hoping to put that right as they challenge for their first All-Ireland pennant since 2010 in the AIG Men’s Junior Cup Finals at Millicent Golf Club, Naas.
Led by captains Cormac Aspell and Ian Clarke, the squad of Kevin Miller, Ozzie O’Toole, Shane Bracken, Michael Dixon, Rob Jacon, Kevin Donohoe and junior members Harry Tiernan and Daniel Campbell came through tough matches against Carlow, Millicent, Kilkenny to reach the Leinster Central final.
There, they beat Abbeyleix 3-2 in an extremely close final.
They tee off against Connacht champions Athlone on Thursday at 12.30pm, with the semi-finals and final scheduled for Friday at Millicent should they progress that far.
