PEDESTRIAN safety has become a point of concern at Brownstown Crossroads at the Curragh, following outgoing concerns raised by locals.
At a recent sitting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District, cllr Pat Balfe brought the junction and the connecting L3008 Curragh to Brownstown Road into focus, asking the council to consider traffic calming measures on the road and pedestrian safety measures at the junction following concerns of high speeds and poor driver behaviour by local residents.
In response, the council committed to reviewing the existing traffic calming in the area “to determine if additional works or traffic calming measures may be required".
Cllr Balfe described it as a main road to Monasterevin. He offered that traffic lights in the area need to be reviewed.
