Sarsfields claimed a convincing win over local rivals Moorefield in Round 3 of the Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League on Saturday evening. The match, played in ideal conditions at Sarsfields, saw Moorefield open the scoring with a two-point effort from Mark Murray. However, the hosts responded swiftly through points from Tadhg Hoey and Karl Hartley.
Moorefield briefly regained the lead with a free from Evan O’Brien, but Conor Hartley’s fine score soon levelled matters again. Padraig Cribben edged Moorefield ahead with a surging run and point from the half-back line, only for Ryan Kearney to equalise with a superb effort.
Sarsfields took control in the 15th minute when Conor Hartley slotted another fine point, followed by a free from Barry Coffey for dissent. With momentum shifting, Sarsfields added two more scores – one from Gavin Anderson and another from Conor Hartley – to stretch their lead. Evan O’Brien reduced the gap with a free, but Sarsfields finished the half strongly, registering points from Karl Hartley, Daragh Ryan, and two from Barry Coffey, making it 0-12 to 0-5 at the break.

The second half saw Sarsfields continue their dominance. Early points from Barry Coffey, Gavin Anderson, Karl Hartley, and Jimmy O’Neill extended their advantage to 11 points. Conor Hartley was denied a goal by a superb Tom Kinsella save, before Evan O’Brien got Moorefield’s first point of the half from a free in the 38th minute.
Substitute Conor O’Donovan made an immediate impact, firing a brilliant goal in the 43rd minute to give Sarsfields a commanding 1-10 lead. Moorefield managed points from Evan O’Brien and Mark Murray, but Sarsfields maintained control with further scores from Karl Hartley and Shane Doyle. Evan O’Brien added a final point for Moorefield in the 60th minute, leaving the full-time score at 1-18 to 0-9 in favour of Sarsfields.
