The deadline for the school transport applications is next week as parents were reminded to submit their applications.

Minister James Lawless gave a final push to remind parents about the deadline, with applications having to be made through the School Transport Family Portal for the upcoming School Year 2025- 2026. The portal for applications is open until Friday 25 April.

The Kildare Fianna Fáil politician said: “The fees for this year are very affordable, primary students are €50, post-primary are €75 with a maximum of €125 per family.

“If you have a child already using the scheme, all you need to do is log on and pay your fee and secure your place.

“However, first-time school transport applicants and students changing home address or schools in 2025/2026 need to apply via the portal”.

“Furthermore, children (who are eligible for school transport) and who possess valid medical cards (GMS Scheme) are exempt from paying the annual charge however, their medical card details must be submitted to Bus Éireann through the Family Portal payments section.”
