Superintendent Oliver Henry was full of praise for their departing colleague.

“Over the course of his 40 years of service to An Garda Síochána, Martin always drove the highest of standards,” he said, “particularly in his role in charge of the Divisional Scenes of Crime Unit where he and his members delivered excellence in the examination of crime scenes, but also in their interaction [with] and support of victims, leading to the securing of vital evidence in many serious crimes to secure convictions in the courts.”
