Families in Kildare left in the lurch due to some school bus routes not being up and running for the start of the school term have been given some relief.

A number of bus routes that had not been set up now will come on stream this week.

The news was announced by the agriculture minister and Kildare South TD Martin Heydon.

Routes 9101/8210 to Colaiste Lorcain and Scoil Diarmada, Castledermot commence on Monday.

Route 5288 to Gaelcolaiste Cill Dara also starts on Monday.

Routes 9126/8232 to Crookstown NS and St Kevin’s Dunlavin will commence on Wednesday.

Route 4184 Kildangan NS also started last week on Monday on 1 September.

Minister Heydon commented: “For the past number of weeks, I have been pushing Bus Eireann for speedy resolutions to a number of the school transport issues that arose just as schools were due to return.

“I am pleased to update today that a number of routes have now been resolved and have either restarted or are due to restart next week.”

Minister Heydon said he would continue to press for a route to St Farnan’s in Prosperous and additional bus to St Kevin’s, Dunlavin for the Narraghmore/Ballytore area.

Minister Hedyon concluded: “If you are in Kildare South area and still have a school bus query, feel free to contact my office at martin.heydon@oir.ie.”
