BUS links between Kildare Train Station and Newbridge Train station via Suncroft are being developed as part of the Connecting Ireland rural transport initiative.

At a recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge MD, cllr Tracey O’Dwyer asked the council to write to the National Transport Authority (NTA) seeking an assessment of the potential for a Local Link bus service connecting The Curragh to Newbridge.

In response, the council’s Transport, Mobility and Open Spaces Department confirmed that it has been in contact with Local Link, who advised that Transport for Ireland (TFI) Local Link Kildare South Dublin is in the final stages of a procurement process.

The upcoming service aims to operate seven days a week, linking Kildare Train Station and Newbridge Train Station via Suncroft, as part of the Connecting Ireland rural transport initiative.

The initiative was created to better connect rural communities and has even committed to “door-to-door services” in more rural areas where the bus would be able to divert off route if necessary to accommodate passenger’s needs.

The department said it will provide members with a further update once more details about the new service become available.
