THE NAAS Roads Policing Unit recently carried out a targeted speed enforcement operation at Rathgorragh, Kill, following a number of public complaints about dangerous driving in the area.

Local residents had raised serious concerns about vehicles consistently exceeding the 60 km/h speed limit, making it difficult and unsafe for them to exit their driveways. In response, Gardaí conducted a speed check aimed at improving road safety and protecting the local community.

During the operation, numerous motorists were detected travelling above the legal limit. Among them, one vehicle was caught travelling at 99 km/h in the 60 km/h zone.

Fixed Charge Penalty Notices (FCPNs) were issued to offending drivers, which include a €160 fine and 3 penalty points on their licence.

Gardaí have reiterated the importance of adhering to speed limits, which are in place to protect all road users.

“Please always consider others. Speeding kills. Slow down – protect lives and communities,” said a Garda spokesperson online.
