Strong Kildare representation at the Good Food Awards

The Lock 13 pub in Sallins was one of the finalists
EIGHT businesses from Kildare have made the 2024 shortlist for the Good Food Ireland awards which will be announced next month.
The winners of the 19 categories are due to be revealed at a high-profile dinner taking place on Monday, 11 November at The K Club – which, coincidentally, is one of the qualifiers in the 5-star hotel category.
The nearby Barberstown Castle is shortlisted for ‘Culinary Haven of the Year’, the Glenroyal in Maynooth is a 4-star finalist, while the Silver Restaurant at Newbridge Silver is up for ‘Café of the Year’.
Surprisingly, only one shop made the final, and that is the Firecastle in the Market Square, in Kildare town, however three pubs have qualified in their category – Harte’s of Kildare, Lock 13 in Sallins, and Harrigan’s Bar and Grill in Newbridge.
These awards are to celebrate businesses at every layer of our island’s food and drink industry.
From primary producers, manufacturers, and chefs, to shops, hotels, tourism experiences, and restaurants, those businesses who make the shortlist are regarded by the judges as embodying all that makes Ireland’s food offering so standout.
The core emphasis of the awards is the consumer experience of local, fresh, seasonal, Irish ingredients.
