'Terrific young man' killed in Kildare hit and run

A MAN in his forties is currently being detained at a garda station in Kildare in connection with a hit and run accident in Blackwood in the early hours of Sunday (10 November) that claimed the life of a 16-year-old student.
He was charged with the offence on Monday afternoon (11 November) and is expected to appear before a local district court on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.
The teenager has been named as Kedagh Moore, and he was a pupil at Scoil Mhuire Community School in Clane.
Kedagh from Graigues, Robertstown is surivived by his parents parents Glenda and John, sister Sadhbh, grandparents Esther and John, aunts, uncles, cousins, and his great circle of dear friends.

He was struck by a vehicle while walking on the R403 near Robertstown, and the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene, where an impromptu memorial has already been set up.
His local football club issued a statement of condolence.
'Clane United is in shock and mourning today following the tragic loss of our Under 17 player Kedagh Moore in the most terrible circumstances,' the club said.
'The loss of such a terrific young man has left the club with a heartache that is felt by all our members.
'Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are extended to all the Moore family as they come to terms with this shocking loss. To Kedagh’s coaches and teammates the club stands ready to help you through your grieving.
'Kedagh will forever be in our hearts. Ar dhèis Dè go raibh a anam.'
He was remembered by one mourner on RIP.ie as "a kind, caring and fun loving young man".
Kedagh will be reposed at Oliver Reilly’s Funeral Home in Prosperous on Thursday from 4-8pm with prayers at 7pm.
Removal on Friday from his residence at approx. 10.30am to arrive at The Church of Our Lady and Saint Joseph, Prosperous for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in St. Benignus Cemetery, Staplestown. House is private.

Councillor Shónagh Ní Raghallaigh described the news as "desperately sad".
"As a mother of four, I cannot begin to think of the pain his family is experiencing,” she said.
"May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace and sincere condolences to his family and friends."
Kildare South Senator Fiona O'Loughlin added: "So desperately sad to wake up to this tragic news this morning.
"A young man on the cusp of adulthood, full of hope and dreams that now will never be realised. Very deepest sympathy to family, friends and the local community."
Garda forensic investigators examined the scene of the crash and a cordon and detours were put in place.
Gardai have urged anyone who may have any information to come forward, and are appealing to those with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Prosperous, Allenwood, Carbury, and Robertstown areas between 11:30 pm and 3:30 am on 9-10 November, to come forward.
