The Curragh Racecourse has announced a new collaboration with LFC Foundation, supported by the Kirkland Family, which will see one of the feature races on Juddmonte Irish Oaks Day, Saturday 18th July, sponsored in honour of the Foundation’s outstanding community work.

The LFC Foundation is the official charity of Liverpool Football Club, and the day will bring together two iconic sporting institutions and create a unique experience for Liverpool supporters, racing enthusiasts and families attending the event.

The “Liverpool FC Foundation Scurry” will be one of the highlights of the race day. The sponsorship of the race will aim to raise the profile of the LFC Foundation’s work in tackling social inequality in their communities and in Ireland through improving health, championing learning and enhancing employability opportunities for all.

The LFC Foundation supports over 145,000 people with over 36,000 people so far having felt their support in Ireland thanks to engagement with the FAI and three Premier League of Ireland football clubs who all deliver community interventions in schools, classrooms, community centres and on football pitches.

As part of the race day celebrations, a number of Liverpool FC legends will be in attendance including the club's all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush, Neil Mellor and former England International turned LFC Foundation Community Ambassador, Chris Kirkland.

Liverpool FC Women’s captain Grace Fisk will also join us alongside former players Becky Easton and record goalscorer and former England International Natasha Dowie, giving fans a rare opportunity to enjoy exclusive meet-and-greet sessions (times to be advertised throughout the day), autograph signings and photo opportunities as well as meet the clubs official mascot, Mighty Red!

There will also be a Jockeys v Liverpool Legends Challenge competition, a raffle and a number of other community activations to get involved in throughout the day.

Ahead of the race day, the LFC Foundation are hosting an auction to win a mascot place to walk out with a jockey for the Scurry Race along with three tickets and a Legends meet and greet experience. There is also a prize draw to win two tickets to attend the race day with travel and accommodation included, a Legends meet and greet experience and a signed LFC shirt for each guest to take home! (Ts&Cs apply). Click here to enter.

Liverpool fans are being encouraged to wear their club colours on the day, creating a sea of red at Ireland’s premier racecourse. Special prizes and giveaways will be available for supporters embracing the occasion.

Speaking on behalf of The Curragh Racecourse, Evan Arkwright Racing and Sponsorship Manager said:
