A well-known Kildare spot has been named Gastro Bar of the Year.

The winners of the 2024 Bar of the Year Awards were announced yesterday (Monday, 19 August) at a gala awards ceremony hosted by Anton Savage at the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road in Dublin.

Kildare venues bookended the Gastro Bar – Food Type category, with The Dew Drop Inn & Brewhouse in Kill claiming gold and Harrigan’s Bar & Grill in Newbridge taking bronze.

The Dew Drop Inn was taken over in 2007 by Ronan Kinsella and Paul Lenehan who also own and operate Hartes of Kildare in Kildare town, The Ballymore Inn in Ballymore Eustace, and Firecastle Artisan Grocers & Cafe in Kildare town.

The Hideout Pub in Kilcullen won bronze in the Outstanding Customer Service Award The Duke’s Rest at Carton House was the bronze winner in the Best Wine Bar Category, while Lock 13 Brew Pub in Sallins won silver for Innovative Bar of the Year.

The Silken Thomas in Kildare town took home the People’s Choice Award in Leinster.

Among the galaxy of contenders, the most exceptional bars have been recognised and celebrated for their extraordinary contributions to the hospitality industry.

These establishments have elevated the art of mixology, ambiance, and service, captivating patrons with unforgettable experiences.
