Traffic calming measures called for Monasterevin road
Monasterevin
PLANS to enhance safety on a Monasterevin road could be in the pipeline after concerns were raised by residents and road users.
At the most recent meeting of Kildare Newbridge Municipal District (MD), cllr Pat Balfe asked the council to outline if there were any plans to further enhance safety or install additional traffic control measures on Canal Harbour Road. He asked this in the context of the aforementioned concerns that have been raised.
A report issued by Mark McLoughlin, senior executive officer of transport, mobility and open spaces at Kildare County Council, in response to cllr Balfe’s question, stated that a site visit can be arranged with the MD engineer and the traffic management team.
Cllr Balfe responded to say that he wants to be there for the site visitation.
Road safety is a topic of conversation in the Monasterevin area, with several motorists recently caught driving well above the 50km/h speed limit during a speed check at a location outside the Hazel Hotel. Residents there have voiced concerns regarding excessive speed.
