THE YOUNG man who died in hospital following a serious assault in Kildare town last Sunday has been named.

Ryan Gibbons, aged in his 20s, who has been described by people who knew him as an “amazing guy” and “one of the nicest people you’d meet,” was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace in Kildare town at around 3:15am on Sunday, October 26.

He was taken to Naas General Hospital, where he remained in a critical condition before sadly passing away.

The coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in the coming days. The results will help determine the next steps in the investigation.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have been in the McGee Terrace area between 2am and 4am on Sunday morning to come forward.

They are particularly interested in hearing from any road users who may have video footage, including dash-cam recordings, from that timeframe.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
