There’s a flurry of activity around St Michael’s Parish Church in Athy this week with three crosses set to be returned to their homes.
The cross on the church tower which came down in a storm in December 2019 is being reinstated, now that the insurance claim is settled.
The crosses over the front door and baptistery are also being reinstated. A crane is on-site.
This work necessitates the closing of the front car park and part of the side car park from yesterday (Monday) to this Thursday (29 August) inclusive.

The Parish has said they will do their best to accommodate all those who attend the 9.30am Mass each day.
The front door of the church will be closed and people are asked to enter by the side door.
