The vehicle involved in the collision failed to remain at the scene

Gardaí in Kildare have arrested a man in his 40s in connection with a hit and run which left a teenage boy dead.

Gardaí announced this afternoon that an arrest had ben made in connection with the collision last night at Blackwood, near Robertstown at 12.30am and he is currently being detained at a garda station in Co. Kildare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

A 16-year-old male was fatally injured as a result of the collision. His body has been removed from the scene to the mortuary at Naas General Hospital.

A cordon is in place as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene and local traffic diversions remain in place.

Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses. In addition, they are particularly appealing to those with camera footage, including dash-cam, from the Prosperous, Allenwood, Carbury, and Robertstown areas between 11:30 pm and 3:30 am on 10th November, to come forward.
