UPDATED: Man hospitalised after Naas assault

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which occurred on North Main Street, Naas in the early hours of Sunday (15 March).

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident which occurred shortly after 2:45am outside a fast food outlet opposite Fletcher’s Bar.

It is believed the assailant and victim may have been known to each other.

An adult male aged in his 30s was taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination, and according to local representative cllr Ger Dunne “it was cordoned off all day Sunday”.

An adult male aged in his 20s was arrested for public order offences, but has since been released.

It is not known what his level of involvement in the alleged attack was.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any persons who were in the vicinity of North Main Street between 2.20am and 3.00am on Sunday, and anyone who may have video footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
