GARDAÍ in Kildare have seized an illegal and high-powered e-scooter in Naas, warning that such scooters pose a serious danger on public roads and will be seized if caught on the roads.
The scooter, a KuKirin G2 Pro, was one of several recently seized by the Naas Roads Policing Unit. The model is capable of speeds of up to 45km/h, powered by a 600W motor and a 48V 15.6Ah battery, far exceeding the legal limits for e-scooters in Ireland.

Gardaí said the scooter is illegal for use on public roads, as it breaches regulations relating to speed, power and weight, and stressed that it has “no place” in public spaces.
“This is not a toy,” a garda spokesperson said. “At these speeds, a collision can be fatal, especially where children are involved.” The rider of the seized scooter will be prosecuted, gardaí confirmed.
Parents have been strongly urged not to purchase high-powered e-scooters for their children, with gardaí advising that any such devices already in possession should be disposed of.
“If you have one, get rid of it,” the spokesperson said. “If you don’t, we will.”
Gardaí reiterated that road safety saves lives and urged the public to fully understand the law before purchasing e-scooters or similar devices. “Think before you buy,” they added.
