When should we expect Kildare election results?

Couple of factors to consider
When should we expect Kildare election results?

The counters will be busy this weekend!

It promises to be a very exciting weekend but when should we expect the first results in Kildare South and Kildare North constituencies?

It’s a hard one to call but let’s look at what we do know.

Doors to the count centre in Punchestown are expected to open at 8am on Saturday morning with sorting of boxes and verification to commence shortly thereafter.

The first count is anticipated to begin around lunchtime.

Back in 2020, it was after 7.30pm when first count results were called in Kildare South and Kildare North with tallies emerging in the afternoon.

Factors to consider this time include that there are more candidates in both constituencies, an extra seat in Kildare North while there is a new acting returning officer, former county councillor Mark Stafford.

It is a reasonable prediction that the first counts will arrive in the late evening on Saturday. Famous last words!
