A MOTHER blessed a judge after he granted a barring order against her drug-addicted son, whose habit has seen the mother now threatened by a knife-wielding debt collector.

This all came out behind the closed doors of the family law session at Athy District Court last week (8 October).

“He’s always bringing lots of people to my house to take drugs … he nearly died four times last week,” said the frail and frightened lady.

“Then last week a foreign fella bursted my window wide open and demanded money,” she alleged.

“He threatened me with a knife and pointed it at my chest shouting: ‘Money!’,” she said.

“It was a large knife covered in blood, I don’t know whose blood. My son is in fear, he meant to kill us,” she said.

“He needs help and he could get help in the next year,” she said.

“This woman is vulnerable, so I’m going to direct this order is served by a garda,” said the judge.

“She’s genuinely afraid of this foreign guy,” he added.

“God bless you,” said the mother, stepping down from the witness box.
