Woman gets protection from ex after alleged sexual assault at Kildare court

A WOMAN who claimed she was sexually assaulted when she was two months pregnant by the father was granted a protection order last week.
During the hearings of family law proceedings at Naas District Court, the woman told Judge Nichola Jane Andrews that “the father of my baby has been hassling me since before and after the birth”.
“I was the victim of a sexual assault from him... which I reported last Monday,” she said in the witness box.
“I was served a summons on 20 July so he could see (his child),” she revealed, “but he has since approached me in (named town); he’s approached me in my home town.”
After hearing the allegations, Judge Andrews promptly issued an interim protection order, telling the appellant that her case would go for a full hearing on 22 February.
“Is my daughter included [in the order]?” asked the woman.
“I will include the child,” nodded the judge, as she returned to her paperwork to quickly amend the document before her.
