Woman with Kildare connections dies after alleged assault

A WOMAN aged in her 50s has died following an alleged assault at her home, which left her with serious injuries.

Linda Costello (née Flood), who lived in Castledermot for a period was allegedly assault at her Graiguecullen home between Wednesday night and Thursday morning (25-26 March) She was brought to St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny and later Beaumont Hospital in Dublin after presenting to paramedics as unresponsive but breathing on Thursday morning.

Gardaí said she had sustained bruising to her right upper arm, her abdomen and chest, trauma to her right eye with dried blood visible around her mouth and on a bedsheet. Among items seized from the scene by gardaí was an empty Smirnoff vodka bottle.

Linda died at Beaumont Hospital on Friday 10 April. She is survived by two children and their father, her parents and sister, brother-in-law and extended family and friends. Linda also previously lived in Ballyboden, Dublin.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
