Michael Noonan scores Ireland' third goal during the win over Panama

Michael Noonan headed home the third goal as Ireland began the Under 17 World Cup in Doha with a 4-1 win over Panama.

The Ellistown youngster, who was man of the match, had already rattled the crossbar with a rasping drive in the first half when, after the break, he neatly headed home at the back post from Jaden Umeh's cross.

Maynooth's Alex Noonan was given a boost even before the World Cup started when he was handed the number one jersey and he performed well in goal also.

Ireland now top Group J along with Uzbekistan, who won beat Paraguary by 2-1 in their opening game, and the table toppers meet in the second game in their second games on Saturday.
