A clean sheet from Maynooth’s Alex Noonan was enough to secure a 0-0 for the Ireland at the U17 World Cup against Paraguay in Qatar, a result that means Ireland top J.
Much of the headlines in the opening two rounds were grabbed by Michael Noonan and the others in the Ireland attack but this was a tighter affair with defences on top and Noonan’s shut out was enough to ensure Ireland finished top of their group.
They now progress to face in the last 32 to face Canada on either Friday or Saturday. The Canadians are likely to step on what Ireland have faced so far and included in their group results was a 0-0 with France.
As well as the two Noonans doing Kildare and Ireland proud on the pitch, there is further Kildare involvement in the team's backroom with Mark Cornish the physio for the team and Evan White as Performance Coach.
