Sharpshooter Scahill ends Naas CBS Bro Bosco hopes
Rian Curran (Naas CBS) takes on Michael Weir
Five times Bro Bosco Cup Champions, Naas CBS, made their exit from the 2025/26 competition when they were beaten by defending champions, Coláiste Mhuire, Mullingar at the semi-final stage in Gracefield GAA, Offaly on Friday morning.
Despite conceding two first half goals to the Mullingar school’s sharpshooter, Will Scahill, CBS were very much in this game at the break and went in on level terms, 0-9 to 2-3. The Naas tally at that stage included three points each from Rory Thompson and Euan Cowser, a two-pointer free from goalkeeper, Mark Halligan as well as single point from captain, Cian McKevitt.
When Thompson put CBS in front within a minute of the restart it looked as if the momentum might have swung in the Naas school’s favour however nine unanswered scores from the Mullingar school put paid to that notion. Among those scores were three two pointers, two frees, as well as a few single scores from Scahill as he brought his tally in the game to an impressive 2-11. Scoil Mhuire completely dominated at midfield and it wasn’t until the final five minutes or so that CBS were able to mount any consistent attacks. Those attacks resulted in late points from Cowser, Thompson, Sean Tully and second half substitute, Jack Reilly. A goal that might have brought them into the game never materialised.
