Tanáiste meets and greets on the campaign trail in Kildare

There were not just bargains in the aisles of local supermarkets last week but a Tánaiste too who paid a trip to Kildare.
The Fianna Fail leader created a buzz as he visited shops, cultural centres, pubs and other local spots during a canvass of Naas and Sallins.

Kildare North TD Minister James Lawless showed Mr Martin around, introducing him to the regulars at Naas Men’s Shed where they were welcomed by Norman Farragher, catching up with shoppers at the cheese counter in Dunnes Stores in Naas and with manager Laura Maher of O’Reilly’s SuperValu in Sallins.

The Tánaiste also attended the launch of the Brigid 1,500 festival hosted by Naas Cultural Centre. After this it was on to Sallins train station where they met some of the commuters while he also stepped into the Railway Inn bar to pull a pint and chatted with members of the Sallins Historical Society.

It was finally off to Newbridge and the Keadeen Hotel where he was the special guest to launch Senator Fiona O’Loughlin’s campaign.
