Two men have died in a three-vehicle crash between a lorry, a bus, and a car in Co Meath.

The collision occurred at around 6.30am on the R132 at Gormanstown on Monday morning.

The driver of the lorry, aged in his 40s, and the driver of the bus, aged in his 50s, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The female driver of the car, aged in her 40s, was brought to Beaumont Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A female passenger of the car, in her teens, was initially brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

A number of other people were also taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Bus Éireann confirmed that one of its buses was involved in the crash, which took place near the site of the former Huntsman pub.

The road is closed pending a forensic examination and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.
