Friday's front pages focus on a range of stories, from a 50 per cent rise in prison deaths to franchise operators within the Fastway courier group being asked to submit to lie detector tests.

The Irish Times reports overcrowding and poor healthcare contributed to a 50 per cent increase in prison deaths last year, according to a damning report from the Inspector of Prisons.

The Irish Examiner reports that franchise operators within the Fastway courier group were asked to submit to lie detector tests, and  was run was "like something out of a Netflix documentary", the Dáil has heard.

The Echo focus on the Port of Cork (PoCC) will be applying for planning permission this month to upgrade access to its Tivoli Docks site under plans that Cork city councillors have described as “preposterous” and “a bombshell”.
