Athy singer/songwriter Joseph Gorman is launching his 14-track debut album The Modern Irish Ballad in the Clanard Court Hotel, Athy at 8pm on Sunday 24 November.

He will be supported on the night by the male vocal group 'Airneán' - a group of fantastic young singers made up of current and past members of the Maynooth Chamber choir.

The concert is a free event with tickets are available for collection in advance from the reception at the Clanard Court Hotel. If you don't get a chance to pick up a ticket — arrive early.

The culmination of five years’ work, the album – ‘The Modern Irish Ballad’ showcases a modern interpretation of traditional Irish folk music. It features songs blending rich storytelling, evocative melodies, and a deep connection to Irish cultural heritage.

On the night Joseph will be debuting a brand-new ballad for all Lilly Whites called 'Sweet County Kildare' as features on KFM and written by Mary Ryan. He will also perform The Most Romantic Town in Ireland written by Joseph about Athy when it was awarded this prestigious title last year.

Featuring timeless Irish ballads like Four Green Fields, Come My Little Son, and Faraway in Australia, alongside original contemporary folk songs such as Geneva,  Can I See Your Passport?, and When Minella Won the Double. It also tells stories of the lived Irish experience in recent times.

Joseph and his all-Kildare band Joe Byrne (Athy) and Enda Byrne (Kilcullen) are sure to provide an unforgettable night’s entertainment.

CDs will be on sale on the night and the album is available for streaming on all major platforms.
