SOME €2,000 was raised at a packed Table Quiz in Fallons of Kilcullen, organised by the Kilcullen Gospel Choir's Relay for Life team.

This brought to more than €4,000 the total fundraising by the popular singing group for the Kildare Relay for Life event held at the Curragh Racecourse over the weekend of 6-7 July.

Table Quizzes are more of a winter affair, and even the organisers were taken aback with the support of more than 90 people who packed the Fallons event in the middle of an admittedly distinctly winterish summer.

The winning team at the event in Fallons comprised Ross Lloyd, Anna McLeod, Fergus Ryan and Pat Smythe.

The top prize included tickets for the Sunday of the Oaks weekend 21 July, at the Curragh Race Course.

A wide range of raffle prize hampers was also distributed amongst 23 tables of participants puzzling over the questions. The very able question master was Martin Kelly.

Other funds were raised by local selling of candle bags which are lit for a nightfall ceremony during the Relay, where loved ones who the candle bags are dedicated to are remembered.
