Hotly-tipped Kildare four-piece Blue Slate announce their debut EP,
, which will be released on 12 February with their new single , out Wednesday 20 November. Between John Harney’s raw vocals and Pierce Devine’s jangly guitar, the band seamlessly blend New Wave wistfulness and rich, shoegaze textures into a sound all their own. Bassist James Hargreaves and drummer Tim Tora keep a driving, insistent pace going under the emotional honesty of .Blue Slate say the new single “represents a very particular point in our lives and is an ode to that time, serving as a reminder to never forget and always be grateful for what you have in your life”.
Blue Slate exploded onto the Irish music scene in 2023, and their mesmerising live shows and impressive singles earned them a spot on the ever-exclusive Hot Press “Hot for 2024” list. The genre-defying rockers have played across Europe, including in London and Paris. Blue Slate cemented their status as one of the most promising up-and-coming bands in Ireland when they played a sold-out headline show in The Workman's Club upon returning from London. They have also supported the likes of the UK’s Big Special.
