Declan Gorman

NEWBRIDGE Riverbank Arts Centre is set to welcome Declan Gorman to the venue with his new theatre show Nineteen Eighty Something on Thursday 7 May.

In Nineteen Eighty Something Gorman tells his own story of what it was like to be a young Irish man in the 1980s. A critically renowned performer, Gorman takes his audiences on memorable theatrical journeys.

The performance begins dramatically with a young Irish emigrant wakened from sleep in a German subway by an unknown woman and told to run! From this it hurtles non-stop through the squats and factories of Bavaria, journeys to North Africa and back home to a new life in the independent (fringe) theatre and street protest in Ireland.

Expect heartbreak, absurd escapades, side-splitting laughter, memorable characters and self-discovery. Whether you lived through the eighties or simply wondered what it was like to be alive and young at that time, this show will take you there on a wild ride, with a pumping soundtrack, video backdrop and a story so true you couldn’t make it up!

The show will be performed at Riverbank Arts Centre on Thursday 7 May at 8pm. Tickets are priced €18/€16 and can be booked through the Box Office, either in person or by telephone on 045 448327 Monday to Friday 9.30am-5pm (closed for lunch 2-2.30) and Saturday 10am-1pm.

Tickets can also be booked 24/7 on www.riverbank.ie
