Monasterevin Drama Group brave the storm for hit show

Monasterevin Drama Group put on a memorable set of performances last week, despite the challenges Storm Éowyn brought to town.
The group faced an unexpected challenge with Storm Eowyn, which forced the cancellation of Friday night's sold-out show. Despite considering all possible alternatives, the safety of the cast, crew, and audience was most important. Ticket holders were offered limited seating for Thursday’s performance or a full refund.

Group PRO, Deborah Gleeson said: “We simply couldn't risk the welfare of our cast, crew and wider communities who were travelling from neighbouring counties to attend the show.” Despite this setback, the cast and crew packed the energy of three nights into two fantastic performances.

“It was terrific to hear the room erupt in laughter throughout the two nights,” she added.
Not only did this year’s performance hail brilliant debut cast members, but audiences had their first look at the newly refurbished Monasterevin Community Centre.
Visitors were welcomed through the hall’s beautifully renovated foyer and box office, which received glowing praise from attendees.

The group extended heartfelt gratitude to local supporters, including Earleys Fashion Shop, Monasterevin Community Centre, Jacinta and Sharon of the People's Market Monasterevin, Donal Harrison, Billy Sinnott, Jim Ivers, Jim Keary and all of the local businesses in Monasterevin who so generously donated prizes for the raffle.

The Drama Group also thanked their loyal ticket holders, emphasising that their support makes these productions possible.

For those interested in being part of the next production, keep an eye on social media for updates and group meetings. The Drama Group are always accepting new members.
