MARY Power-Cooney’s Theatrics Teen Ensemble took to the stage at the Moat Theatre, Naas at the weekend.
It was a fusion of theatre, film, spoken word, music, and visual art in an ambitious youth-led production created by the Theatrics Teen Ensemble.
Under the mentorship ofâ¯Mary Power-Cooney, the evening showcased original theatre vignettes and short films written, directed, cast, and performed by the young students of Theatrics Teen Ensemble.
The evening also included live music and spoken word works shaped by the ensemble’s shared conversations, experiences, and questions. The programme explored themes of identity, peer pressure, creativity, power, silence, and the challenge of finding — and using — one’s voice. The ensemble’s cinematic work was developed with the guidance of filmmakerâ¯Richard Lennon, who mentored the students.
The show called â¯reflectsâ¯Mary Power-Cooney’sâ¯deeply rooted commitment to youth arts practice. Through Theatrics Youth Ensembles, she continues to create inclusive spaces where young people are supported in developing not only performance skills, but confidence, critical thinking, empathy, and artistic agency.
Theatrics’ next intake of students will be for a Summer Camp, taking place at the Moat Theatre. Booking is now open on theatricsnaas.ie.
