A WOMAN who allegedly held up a Newbridge bookies with a scissors has been sent forward for trial to the circuit court.

Danielle Murphy (32) of White Oaks Court, Newbridge appeared last week (8 October) in Athy District Court to receive her book of evidence and the date she is to appear in the circuit court in relation to said offence.

Sergeant Dave Harahan outlined the allegation that on 13 July 2023 Ms Murphy did enter BoyleSports on Henry Street in the town and, armed with a scissors, made off with approximately €700.

He informed Judge Desmond Zaidan that the Director of Public Prosecutions had ruled trial by indictment before a jury and she was sent forward for trial to appear at the present sittings of Naas Circuit Court, which actually began the same day – 8 October.

Sgt Hanrahan said there were three other shoplifting allegations – from Dunnes Stores in Moorefield, Eason’s in the Whitewater, both in Newbridge, and Dealz on Duke Street, Athy on dates between December 2021 and February 2023.
