The butter-making workshop was hosted by Hellen Finnegan from Knockdrinna, Kilkenny, and taught attendees how to make their own butter, just like St Brigid would have in her day.

Youth Butter Making Workshop

IRISH Sign Language (ISL) group Athy Sing and Sign held an event in conjunction with the Brigid festival last Sunday 9 February.

The butter-making workshop was hosted by Hellen Finnegan from Knockdrinna, Kilkenny, and taught attendees how to make their own butter, just like St Brigid would have in her day.

Hellen took the workshop through the history of butter making as well as the making of it, with plenty of time for tasting at the end.

The event was funded by Kildare County Council with both a youth and adult workshop on the day, and a sign language interpreter present to make the event accessible and enjoyable for all!

Attendees were a lovely mix of adults and children from the community who all got to take home delicious butter made by their own hands.

It was a great and memorable day of fun and learning for all involved.
