TALENTED pupils from Scoil Phádraig Naofa launched their very own art exhibition at Art House on Leinster Street, Athy.

Last month the exhibition titled ‘Secrets of the Sea’ was officially launched with members of the local community, and included honoured visits by Anthony Haughey, outgoing curator of the Art House, Éilís Lavelle, Kildare Arts Officer, and even Ryan Tubridy.

The exhibition includes an array of disciplines, including clay construction, drawing and watercolour paintings, and features sea creatures such as turtles, octopuses, and other fish – even mythical creatures like mermaids!

Secrets of the Sea is the culmination of weeks of dedicated planning and creative work by a group of talented pupils from 4th to 6th class.

All at the launch were blown away by the standard of work on display and by the passion and effort evident in every piece.

Speaking about the launch, school teacher Ms Ní Dhubhghaill said: “A truly wonderful day, our exhibition was the perfect culmination of the children’s hard work and determination.”

“Seeing the 6th class pupils open the event and speak about what art means to them was a proud reminder of the impact creativity can have. Every child was a credit to the school, taking ownership of their work and sharing it with such pride.”
