LAST weekend, family, friends and neighbours gathered together in Foxhill to mark a very special milestone – the 90th birthday of Josie Farrell, a much-loved retired nurse who spent many years caring for patients at Athy’s St Vincent’s Hospital.

The celebration took place on Saturday 13 September, and it proved to be a day that will live long in the memory for Josie and her extended family.

The house was filled with warmth and laughter as visitors dropped in throughout the afternoon to share in the occasion. There was no shortage of friendly conversation, drinks, gift giving and, of course, plenty of cake to go around the room.

The sense of community spirit shone brightly, with neighbours young and old calling in to wish Josie well and to thank her for her years of kindness and service.

Adding to the lively atmosphere, Josie’s sister-in-law, Lily Morrissey, and neighbour Margo Dalton took to the floor to provide some entertainment. They sang a few tunes for those in attendance, which was livestreamed on Facebook for those who could not make it on the day.

It was a day marking the long and healthy life of a woman cherished by so many.

Relative Patricia Berry took to social media to mark the occasion and wrote: “What a wonderful evening celebrating Josie Farrell’s Foxhill 90th! A beautiful family gathering filled with laughter, memories, stories, and plenty of banter – truly a night to cherish. So special to look back on our time in Foxhill with such amazing people and a lifetime of memories.”
