Castlemitchell community turn out for Goose Club tradition

Mick Brazil is he singing or selling...
The annual goose club has been a long-running tradition in Castlemitchell for over 25 years.
Donations from a local shops and individuals are raffled off including a ‘goose’ which never goes home with anybody.

“The last two years it’s been a scobie duck as we couldn’t get a goose!" said one of the organisers Mick Brazil.
“It’s good craic; we had a selection boxes for the kids ... it’s a social gathering.”
There were number of draws on the night with all manner of stuff being up for grabs. Greenfield Tickets supplied by Dan Curtis were one items while a pair or slippers were also another donated item!

“The first couple of winners up can have a choice of everything. But as you go down, they become a little less appealing!” The hall in Castlemitchell gets plenty of use with bowls club, karate, line dancing and the odd school play thrown in.

“Community is great. We get very good support and we are very grateful for that and donations.” Special word to Teresa Purse and Marie Keogh for their efforts in harvesting the donations!
