Showing that old-style entertainment is far from dead in this digital age, the Punch and Judy shows were a really big attraction, with lots of magic from Mr Bubbles and music in between.

Saoirse Behan from Woodbine Books enchanted with stories from the lovely range of children's books available in their popular bookshop. An ice cream van had a permanent line of customers through the afternoon, and Laura McKinley and Fionn Sloan Kelly entertained with song and guitar further along the trail.

Kilcullen Community Action volunteers were on hand with spare fairy wings, and there was face- and nails-painting artistry courtesy of local enterprise Pamper Me Beautiful, while Belle and Cinderella added fairytale glamour to the event.

The Valley Park Fairy Trail was established in 2019 and relaunched last year with many enhancements.

The park on the bank of the Liffey was established in the 1970s by Kilcullen Community Council and is maintained today by the volunteers of Kilcullen Community Action.

Funding for the Family Day — the second year it has been held — was sponsored by KCA, Kildare Credit Union and Kildare County Council.
