High fives from their teammates.

THE IRISH pair of Aidan O'Hara and Kilcullen's Jack Courtney have won the gold medal in their Open Youth Pairs WDF Darts World Cup 2025 final, which took place last week in Seoul, South Korea. They beat the Turkish team in a 9th-leg knockout after a nail-biting, neck-and-neck match, closing the final game in a definitive 0-252. It was Ireland's first gold in a darts World Cup.

Jack Courtney, 16, is a student at Kilcullen's Cross & Passion College and Aidan O'Hara, 17, is from Tipperary. They had beaten a strong Australian team in the quarter finals earlier in the week, then played the 'darts of their lives' to beat the South African pair.

Their team manager, Paddy Cullen, described them as "lovely lads who just do what they do".

"They're so focused, so calm, connected, and very little fazes them," he said.

During the summer, they were runners-up in the European Cup Boys Pairs competition held at Assen in the Netherlands.

The result was cheered in Kilcullen on Saturday morning by an audience of family and friends from The Spout Bar, co-owned by the Courtney family. They have been cheering Jack fairly constantly through a very busy summer — he competed in international darts matches in Coventry, Cardiff, and Hungary, as well as at the Netherlands event.

In November, he'll again be back with the Irish team at Gibraltar for the JDC World Championships, where he has competed twice before.
