Crisis teams are responding to the situation across Ireland

Kildare County Council’s Severe Weather Team and Crisis Management Team convened this morning to review the impact of Storm Éowyn across Kildare. 

The storm has caused significant disruptions to electricity, telecommunications and trees throughout the county. 

Roads are in a poor condition with debris and fallen trees and motorists are asked to drive with extreme caution and be mindful of vulnerable road users including pedestrians and cyclists.

Starting at 12pm today the weather warning downgraded from Orange to Yellow.

The council are are using a dynamic risk assessment approach to health and safety to assess the situation across our Municipal Districts and to commence the clean-up operation. 

The Transportation and Parks teams will collaborate with professional arborists to address the windblown trees, but the clean-up operation will take time and extend over the weekend.

KCC offices are closed today, but staff is working remotely. 

Additionally, there are a range of online services available for conducting business with the Council.

Report fallen trees

Reports of fallen trees can be made via KCC's out-of-hours service at: 1800 500 444.

Report live wires

ESB Networks is highlighting the dangers posed by fallen live wires and advises the public and emergency services to stay away from these fallen cables and report such cases to ESB Emergency Services at: 1800 372 999. 

Water supply

The public can also sign up online to Uisce Éireann’s free text alert system for regular updates about local supplies see: https://www.water.ie/

Uisce Éireann customers can check the website and social media channels for updates and contact the 24/7 customer care centre at:1800 278 278. 

Kildare County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team, Crisis Management Team and Local Coordination Groups will continue to convene during this event and over the coming days, to monitor and coordinate a local response to the situation.
