A KILDARE school has just run a very successful stage show of a very famous movie, and did so with a novel twist – using two sisters to play the lead role!

Kildare Town Community School (KTCS) on the Dunmurry Road just held three sold-out nights of ‘Legally Blonde’ in the school’s PE auditorium.

‘Elle Woods’ - the main character, and played most excellently in the movie by Reese Witherspoon - was played her most bi-personally well by Rayna Lalor in Transition Year (TY) and her sister Erin (5th Year).
“Johannah McDonald and Sarah Flynn were the driving forces behind it, the teachers bringing both their music and theatrical experiences to bear,” said PRO of the 1,000 student school Darragh Fitzgerald.

“Miriam Jones painted all the set designs that were constructed by James Ward, while Anna Finucane was the backstage manager, moving props and people on and off the stage,” he said.
“In fact, the entire TY group were involved with a cast of 120, as well as backstage, costumes, in the shop, ticket sales, and the raffle.
“They did the lot, and it was a collective effort”.
The show ran over the three nights of Wednesday to Friday (25-27 March), and KTCS, and filled 300 seats each night. The anecdotal evidence gathered from the town in the aftermath of the show, they’re dying to see what thespianic magic KTCS can cook up for 2027.
