THEY had to organise a bit, as they had forgotten about it when setting the date, but the committee of the Robertstown Tractor Run held on 27 July managed to get everything wrapped up by 2.30pm and in the pub for the All-Ireland final.

“We never even thought about it!” said Sarah Ivers from the committee. “When we were deciding the date, there was always something on a Sunday, so when we picked the 27th we never thought about it!” she chuckled.

In addition, the committee managed to raise a seriously impressive €7,811.70 in the hour the Tractor Run took place.

“Yeah, we had the final count last night, and that’s great money for one day,” said Sarah.

“We would like to thank the spirit of the community – and the weather! – for making it such a lovely day in Robertstown,” said Sarah. “It’s been a long time since something like this has been done in the village."

Sarah explained that there was a local battling cancer and he inspired the choice of charity, where the money will be used in patient care.

“We won’t be presenting the money for a few weeks as we have to wait for the credit union to order up the giant cheque!”
