Newbridge Kildare Lions Club offer blood pressure screenings

Nurse Annmarie O'Sullivan checks John O'Brien's blood pressure
A blood pressure screening event organised the Newbridge Kildare Lions Club, in collaboration with the Irish Heart Foundation, attracted over 70 participants.
This event took place at Dunnes Stores in Newbridge where attendees benefitted from essential health evaluations and expert advice.

The event was further enhanced by the unexpected arrival of Minister of State Martin Heydon TD, Mayor Peggy O’Dwyer, and Deputy Cathal Berry TD, whose participation highlighted the significance of community health initiatives and public engagement.
Organisers extend their gratitude to Dunnes Stores for their generous support today and throughout the year, and acknowledge Peter Mulcahy and the dedicated team from the Irish Heart Foundation for their outstanding contributions during the event.

Building on this success, the Newbridge Kildare Lions Club will host more of Blood Pressure Check Days and similar community wellness events. The purpose of the event event if to raise awareness about undiagnosed high blood pressure, especially among adults over the age of 50, and to encourage proactive management of heart health within our community.

This initiative is part of a new series of wellness programmes being developed by the Lions Club, spearheaded by Lion Ger Melia, aimed at promoting healthy practices throughout the community.
The Lions Club invite community members to join them on Facebook and Instagram, in this positive health initiative and take a proactive step towards improving their overall health and wellbeing.
