THE Newbridge St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has marked the success of this year’s parade with a special prize-giving presentation at the Keadeen Hotel recently following what was a hugely successful community celebration.

“This year’s parade once again brought colour, culture, music and community spirit to the streets of Newbridge, with an outstanding turnout of participants and spectators helping to create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the town,” said committee member Morgan McCabe.

A particularly special part of the prize giving ceremony was the presentation of the Tony Donohue Perpetual Trophy by Maura Donohue, in honour of Tony’s memory and his lasting contribution to community life in Newbridge.
The overall winner was the Kildare Chinese Cultural Association, while the best on theme went three ways – to the Keadeen Hotel, the Curragh Racecourse, and the Leah Moran Stage School.
The best Walking Group was Kildare Ploughing, the best Sporting Group was Ryston Boxing, and the most Entertaining Group was the Filipino Community.
The winner in the Best Shop Front Awards was Brophy Farrell, while the Runners Up award was split between Moloney’s Bar and Liffey Barber.
The committee also extended sincere thanks to all sponsors for their generous support and to all service providers for their assistance, professionalism and cooperation in helping to deliver another successful parade for the people of Newbridge.

“We were absolutely delighted with the success of this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade and with the fantastic community spirit shown by all involved,” said committee chair Carl Murphy.
“The quality, creativity and enthusiasm on display were exceptional, and our prize winners are all most deserving of recognition.
“We were especially honoured to have Maura Donohue with us to present the Tony Donohue Perpetual Trophy, which holds a very special place in the hearts of our committee and the wider community.
“On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank all of our participants, volunteers, sponsors, service providers and supporters who helped make the day such a memorable and proud occasion for Newbridge".
