THE ladies of the Newbridge Women’s Shed hosted s high tea for their sorority group the Duncannon Dreamers and Doers from Wexford at the Town Hall last week (21 April).

“All the local ladies were all dressed up and were absolutely delighted to have their photo taken with a sprinkle of ladies from Duncannon,” said spokesperson Theresa O’Keeffe.

“We had gone on an excursion down to visit Hook Lighthouse last year and they kindly had us for high tea then, so we returned the compliment,” she said.

“We had a great morning with plenty to eat, a little secret gift for each of our visitors to take home, and lots of dancing.

“We had 12 visitors come up, and there was about 70 people in total at the event.

“We did some line dancing with them, and they were all delighted to get their pictures taken in the great gunas and fascinators, it was a great atmosphere.

“We’ve been going for five years now and we have about 100 members.

“We do everything from exercising, to power walking, yoga, ukelele, crafts, lots of different things.

“The next big mission is a trip to Congreve House in Waterford to visit the house and gardens, and then for a walk on Tramore Beach on 12 May.

“Then two days later, we are going to Malahide Castle with lunch in the Grand Hotel there, followed by a visit to Butler’s Chocolates.

“We’re just trying to do things we weren’t able to before, but we have a group of ladies who get on very well together, and represent our county.

“We’d like to thank Kildare County Council for the use of the Town Hall, which we looked after very well!”
