There was wonderful sunny weather for this year’s Killberry bog run event!
The Kilberry National School 5k bog run/walk was held on Saturday 22 June from 11am. This is a wonderfully popular family and community event run by the Parent’s Association.
Refreshments and treats were available afterwards, and there was also a raffle on the day.
The cost was just €5 per adult and children went free. People of all ages came out to take part and support the event.

“Thank you to all who came out and supported. As always, every event requires a team of organisers and volunteers and we would like to thank all who contributed on the day, from the fabulous baked goods and treats which are always a popular feature of the run, to Padraig Kavanagh for the inflatable start and finish line and Dennis and Ruth for their ESB to power it!” the school said, taking to social media following the upbeat and well-attended event.

“All who kept everyone safe and hydrated on the run; stewards/Civil Defence and water stations: Jimmy and Linda Byrne, Christy Byrne Snr. and Conor Byrne, Paddy Kelly, Gavin Phelan, Cliff Ryan, Patrick and Kieran Dunne, Gavin Foster, John Lawler, refreshments: Roseanne and Aoife Ryan and Yvonne Delaney for looking after everyone so well, Parent’s Council members who co-ordinated the event: Sandra Dunne, Mary Foster, Sarah Davis, Carol Kelly, Trevor Henderson, Katie Kelly, Sarah McCann and Marie Boland on first aid duties, school co-ordinator Linda Coffey for all her help in the lead up and on the day, Aisling Hyland for covering the event, Molly and Karen Grainger for providing the music as well as those who sponsored the raffle prizes: Bradbury’s, Parent’s Council, Kilberry NS staff, K-Leisure, Shauna Mackey (Sweet Snacks), [and] Eviva Beauty.” More photos in next Tuesday’s edition of the Kildare Nationalist.
