Tributes paid to Kildare community stalwart Des Marron

The late Des Marron
There has been widespread sadness in Kildare to the passing of Clane’s Des Marron.
A stalwart of the GAA and in his community, Mr Marron was part of the Leinster wining Kildare team in 1956 but he was known across Clane and surrounding areas for his work in Marron’s Pharmacy.
A man of many talents, Mr Marron was a founding member of Clane Musical Society, and had been part of the church choir since he was child.
Mr Marron served as Lord Mayor of Clane since 1996, a reflection of his work locally and esteem he was held in.
There were many tributes posted online.
“Des was an absolute gentleman. He served Clane so very, very well in so many ways.”
Mr Marron was predeceased by his wife Kathleen and survived by Fiona, Máire, Victor, John, Kevin, Cecily and Edel, sons-in-law Eamon and Russell, daughters-in-law Bernie and Gillian, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, loyal staff and customers and a large circle of friends.

Removal from his residence on Friday at approx. 11:30am to arrive at St. Patrick's and St Brigid's Church, Clane for 12 noon Funeral Mass, followed by burial in Mainham Cemetery, Clane.
