Young Kildare singer strikes right notes for singing final

Young Sallins chanteuse Emilie Brady

A YOUNG Kildare singer – already a veteran of the Late Late Toy Show – has qualified for the final 30 in a nationwide singing competition.

Emilie Brady (8) from Sallins entered ‘The Ivory Sessions’ on YouTube, a competition run by the producers of the Ivory Sessions studio in Slane Co Meath, which is open to anyone in the State – kid or adult.

“It’s a bit like the X-Factor,” explained her dad Philip.

“When all the videos are entered, the studio put up 30 of them on their YouTube channel to allow the public to vote, and those 12 will go to a national final in Navan in early April,” he said.

“Emilie’s already got over 1,100 views singing Defying Gravity from Wicked, and we’re hoping the whole of Kildare can get behind her and give her a few more”.

Emilie attends the Hewetson National School in Clane, and “loves her singing and dancing”.

“She basically sings 24/7,” said Philip.

“She’s with the Prosperous Drama Society, she’s sang with the Naas Musical Society, and she’s involved with the Deirdre Browne Drama School in Sallins.

“Oh, and in case I forgot, her singing coach is Ciara Smith from the Brian Duffy Music School in Clane!"

Philip added: “At the moment she is learning Killeagh by Kingfishr made famous on the Late Late Show, and she’s learning it ‘as Gaelige’ for Seachtain na Gaelige.

“In fact, Emilie herself was on the Late Late Toy Show in 2024 singing For Good from Wicked also.

“Outside of singing Emilie loves pony riding, ballet, and our favourite thing together is cycling along the canal.

“Ciara tested her range last year and I believe she has a range of four octaves, which is amazing for one so young.

“In fact, Emma Langford (Limerick singer) is a fan and has re-posted her video saying: ‘what amazing power for such a little girl’”.

So show some Lily loyalty andcheck out Emilie Brady on the Ivory Sessions on YouTube and assist in a collective leg-up.
